The very first Navitimer, initially designed for the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) in 1952 and launched in 1954 as "The official AOPA Chronograph."
This execution, from a very small early batch, is considered by collectors as a "pre-production" model and uses a specific case with truncated, thicker lugs and a chrono sweep hand different from later mass-produced executions.
Note that this execution does not yet have a reference stamped on the caseback, nor are there any documented examples with Breitling-branded dials.

Case: truncated lugs, ca. 40mm diameter
Bezel: small beads, ca. 40mm diameter
Dial: Black, monochrome slide rule
