Historic details
PRODUCTION SPAN: 1973-1974
A later variation of the 7806 (precise start of production can't be determined, as the 7806-S uses cases from the 7806 production batches), with the manual wind R7740 configured in the Chrono-Matic design of the ref. 1806.
The Navitimer ref. 7806-S has "Big Eyes" hour and minute counters, but no running seconds subdial at 6, where the date display is positioned.
Red accents feature on both dial and slide rule. The logos are "Twin Jet" for Breitling-distributed Navitimer or silverwhite printed AOPA-signed wings. There are two executions of hands: the slim lumed tapered baton of the classic Navitimer 806, later replaced by the lumed wide baton hands of the 48mm "Big Case" Navitimer.
Caliber: manual wind Valjoux R7740
Case: tapered lugs, ca. 40mm diameter
Bezel: serrated pointed notch bezel, ca. 41mm diameter
Dial: black with silverwhite "Big Eye" subdials, red accents on dial and slide rule
Mk1 Hands: lumed tapered baton hands, arrow tip chrono sweep
Mk2 Hands: wide lumed baton, red chrono sweep, rabbit-ear subdial hands.
(transitions with Mk1 arrow tip chrono sweep and subdial hands)
